Services

Residential

John F. Murphy Homes, Inc. (JFM) provides residential services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder in the greater Lewiston/Auburn area as well as surrounding towns.

JFM offers a wide range of living options including group homes, family style shared homes (called Shared Living Homes), independent and semi-independent apartments as well as an array of specialized facilities to meet medical needs (called Intermediate Care Facilities). This includes a Licensed Nursing Home located in Auburn.

At JFM, we believe in meeting the needs of the whole person, recognizing that support, care and treatment will vary greatly-not just from home to home but also for each person within their living environment. This is accomplished using an individualized and tailored treatment approach.

Through the Person Centered Planning process, individualized support plans are developed to ensure that we help to strengthen skills and confidence with the goal of greater independence. Community integration is a primary focus of our Residential Services as we strive to support independence, develop a sense of community and strengthen human connections.

Shared Living Oversight Services

Shared Living is a residential option whereby an individual lives in a family-style setting and becomes a member of the household, the family, and the community. The Shared Living Provider is a certified Direct Support Professional (DSP) and as such, the services provided follow the Person Centered Planning Process and the Service Implementation Plan (SIP).

Shared Living can provide a consistent and stable support system while minimizing the impact inherent in “shift staff residential models” related to multiple staff and turnover. Outcomes of this service include an improved quality of life through becoming an adult family member in the DSP’s family, becoming a part of a community while participating with family members in activities and increasing personal relationships.

JFM’s role in this service is to serve as an oversight agency providing recruitment of the Shared Living Providers, quality assurance of services by conducting monthly check-ins, training to the Shared Living Providers, as well as billing and payment for services. The provider enters into a contractual relationship with JFM and the provider then acts as an independent contractor providing the Shared Living service.

Intermediate Care Facilities

Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/IID) are a highly regulated type of residential facility that offers professional staff such as RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s and various licensed consultants offering support such as Dietitians, Pharmacists, Medical Doctor, Social Worker, etc…

JFM operates a home for 8 individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder with varying degrees of intense need that qualify for this level of care. JFM also operates a nursing home for 14 adults with Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder requiring the need for 24 hour nursing support on a daily basis.

Community Day Programs

John F. Murphy Homes, Inc. operates 4 distinctly different Community Day Programs with varying degrees of support/assistance offered to the individual based on their needs. Each Day Program is located in the communities of Lewiston/Auburn and each centers around supportive relationships, choice, independence, community integration and skill building.

Like Residential Services, our Community Supports programs are driven by the person centered plan and the person’s chosen goals. Some of the areas offered in our Community Supports programs include Art, Music, Health and Wellness, Culinary, Employment, Financial Literacy and Technology. Our Community Day Programs are considered “full circle programs”, meaning that everything connects.

The core of what we do inside the walls of the Day Program is designed to strengthen skill and confidence to better prepare people for similar opportunities in the community. At JFM we also welcome the community to join with our participants in group activities, through educational experiences and volunteerism opportunities.
